DrudgeFudge: The Evil Cyberterrorists of the Democrat Party

Posted on September 18, 2008 at 12:33 am by Jonathan Hart

Aw, Matty Boy. No one giving you any attention? Pulling out all the stops to try and get something, anything, from your site into an MSM cycle? Let’s see if your latest headline sticks:

palin_headline2 DrudgeFudge: The Evil Cyberterrorists of the Democrat Party

Like some scene out of Swordfish, I can just imagine Shia LaBeouf wearing a leather jacket and drinking a glass of Cabernet in front of a laptop while Barack Obama hovers over him, his face in the shadows.

Barack: “Are you fired up?”

Shia: “Ready to go, Mr. President”

Notice the use of “Dirty Tricks”. Drudge clearly wants to link this incident to some imaginary black ops sector of the Democratic party, when in reality it’s just some kid from 4chan, as noted by this tell-all by the hacker himself. Despite having obvious liberal tendencies, I hardly doubt this kid—and when he gets caught I’ll bet you a dollar that it’s just a kid—is hardly the cigarette smoking back-room type hired by the Democratic party in some nefarious scandal reminscent of Watergate, as Drudge desperately wants to make it out to be.

This is yet another show of Drudge skipping stones in the pond and watching for waves. I know this because of all the years I’ve looked at Drudge, I’ve come to know his thought process at least well enough to say that he should know better, especially in a situation like this.

As a matter of fact, Drudge prides himself as being a subversive force on the internet. He’s in many ways a kindred spirit to the very group of people who commited this act. When I was a teenager I got busted for hacking myself. The newspapers could never publish my name, because I was fifteen fucking years old. This meant nothing to the people who wrote into the newspapers which published editorial columns from people who labelled me as a terrorist who should have the book thrown at me. My friend who got busted with me still has the newspaper clippings, which we found to be quite humorous. The sad thing is that 14 years later, people still seem to give hackers more credit than they really deserve, at the expense of the reputation of an entire political party.
